  • ProtoPie is another third party app you can use with Adobe XD, and ProtoPie is a great app for creating very high fidelity prototypes. And we actually have a course on that, make sure you check out the lesson notes. You'll see all the instructions in that course of working with XD and ProtoPie.
  • Moving to High Fidelity: A look into XD's Prototyping mode, and how it works with more interactive tools such as ProtoPie. Prototypr Opinion: Our verdict, and what to expect next from Adobe XD. We’ll not only take a look at the different features available, but show why and how they’re useful to the changing role of the designer today.
  • Image Source: ProtoPie. There are dedicated plugins to directly import projects from Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to ProtoPie. There is a wide range of interactive libraries and design elements that you can add and customize to meet your designing needs.

The Adobe XD + ProtoPie workflow has been a game-changer for digital designers who like to begin their creative process in XD. Starting from scratch to actually having a tangible (& realistic!) prototype that you can hold, touch, and fully experience—all in less than a day’s work. Get realistic prototypes in the hands of users fast. Today we're designing a Horizontal Parallax Animation in Adobe Xd and Protopie. We will use 3D graphics to make things look more interesting and also use Neu.

Similar to Adobe XD functionality, a checkbox for containers or shapes that makes everything underneath it blurred.

Thanks for adding this functionality, even tho if I import for example a circle, the image imported has white corners. Would be good if instead it would be transparent ;)

@josef pa: On the left, it's how protopie imports background blur on a circle at the moment. On the right, it's how it should import it.

You have to use blur background on sketch and then import it. They didn’t add the blur background from ProtoPie for now (which would have been nice) but just the possibility to import it.

@Simone Menegaldo: Hmmm. I tried this on a shape layer but I don't see it working. Are you in the latest public build or is this in a beta version of Protopie or something?

@Simone Menegaldo: As for the circle shape can't you put it inside a group and make rounded edges then clip sublayers?

I’m on the same public version. If background blur is visible in sketch, protopie should import it as an image 🧐
For your solution, yes that could work :)
But then it’s kind of easier as I was doing it before protopie 4.3, which means exporting as an image the object with background blur from sketch and import that image in protopie lol

@Simone Menegaldo: Oh ok, I see what you mean. Like it doesn't actually render a background blur in real time like Sketch does, it just imports the blurred area as a bitmap image.

@Josh Camire: exactly that. And not even with transparency. That’s why my initial issue with the white corners.

@Josh Camire: Hey Josh! Sorry I found out just now that THERE IS an actual live working background blur, it's here! You just need to create it natively from Protopie and not from Sketch! It's awesome man!!!

If you want to try, there is a little trick, but it only works on browser preview.
Create a rectangle black and fill it with 20% opacity on Protopie, upload on cloud.
Using the browser inspector, select the div of the element and add:

From building a cohesive design system to designing flows for the next device innovation or prototyping complex interfaces for user testing, designers can choose from an abundance of UX design tools. Whether it’s one of the more popular programs like Sketch, web-based Figma, the aggressively growing Adobe XD, or newly-introduced InVision Studio—familiarity with the right UX design tools including this Adobe XD review will speed up the product design process.

While looking at the tools designers use, it’s important to note that designers’ responsibilities shift and expand constantly. Only 6-7 years ago, few people even understood what a user experience designer did. These days it’s expected every designer to do at least some sort of user research, prototyping, and competitive analysis.

These shifts affect how designers need to look at their workflow, domain knowledge, techniques, and tools. Clients today expect to see not only a polished final product but everything from wireframing to prototyping to a smoothly animating UI.

Expanding your area of expertise is not just a way to make more money—it’s become a job requirement. New product design processes usually mean new tools, which means designers needing to spend time learning how to use them—which is why the emergence of new design tools has accelerated so much in the past few years.

The days of designers relying on Photoshop as their main design tool are long gone. Now it’s a race for design software platforms to attract both beginners and professionals. Sketch has been a major player for several years, and Figma, having received financial backing of more than $46 million, is catching up with its web-based interactive prototyping tool.

Recently, prototyping platform InVision decided to enter the space with its own design tool, InVision Studio. It didn’t move as fast as everyone had hoped, so while Studio seems pretty solid, it’s still somewhat underwhelming and notoriously buggy in spite of the initial hype.

After dominating the digital design universe for so long, Adobe is behind in this race for the ultimate UX/UI design tool. Not having the luxury of staying in that position for long… enter Adobe XD. Although a little late to the race, Adobe XD has grown in popularity and has become a promising contender since its release in 2016.
