What kind of onsen ryokan is Teisho Basaratei?
Teishokuya
This is a luxury boutique modern ryokan with nice views. There are 20 rooms only. The property is like a hideaway for adults in Mie. Each room has an outdoor private onsen. Everything, such as interior, furniture, decoration, and architecture is truly sophisticated. The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and cozy. We hardly met other guests during our stay. The ryokan would be great for couples, family, small groups, or solo travelers. *A minimum age requirement of 12 applies.

Is the location easy to access?
Yes, it would be easy. It takes 120min by express train from Kintetsu Nagoya Station to Kashikojima Station. *Not from JR Nagoya Station. Please do not make a mistake. Free shuttle service is available from Kashikojima Station. When you reach the station, call 0599-46-1189. It takes just a 3min drive away.
Then if you plan to visit Ise Grand Shrine, a shuttle service called “Pearl Shuttle” is available from Kashikojima Station at JPY1,000 per adult, JPY500 per child.
Also, if you plan to visit Ise Grand Shrine and Toba after check-out, a luggage delivery service is available at an additional charge.
Where is the best accommodation for anniversaries?
If you are looking for venues for special occasions, the property would be one of the best in Mie prefecture. The staff arranges flowers and cakes to celebrate an anniversary at additional charges if you request in advance.

Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend a room in the annex building. The room is spacious, functional, and stylish. You can chill out at your private onsen with a beer in hand while seeing a beautiful view of Ago Bay. That’s precious time. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend rooms in the main building as they don’t have enough soundproofing system. Your ear may catch some noise from next-door neighbors.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, samue outfits, bathrobes, a coffee machine with capsules, and a Japanese tea set. There were NAOBAY amenities in the bathroom. Also, an iPhone, an iPad, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray player, and an air cleaner were placed in our room. Lg tv with mouse remote control. Wi-Fi reception was good. Room service is available from 15:00-21:00. Complimentary wine, Japanese sake, coffee, tea, orange juice, snakes, and finger food, etc., are available at the lounge. I noticed that there was a PC for use someone. The lounge is open from 7:30-10:30, 15:30-22:30. Then there is no convenience store nearby. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are wonderful 3 private family hot springs. You can use all of them for free, but you need to book in advance using an iPad provided in your room. They are open from 6:00-9:00, 15:00-24:00. If you want to try all of them, I would recommend checking in earlier for better time selections. First-come-first-served basis. There is no communal hot spring.
Then, this is one of the amazing spa resorts in Ise-Shima National Park. If you want to have a treatment at Aranya spa, you need to book it in advance. It’s open between 14:00 and 23:00.

Then the property is universal design. There is a room for wheelchair users in the main building. If you bring someone with weak legs, you may want to inform staff in advance as they can arrange the room. A wheelchair is available for borrowing.
How about meals?
The seafood kaiseki for dinner was simply wonderful. The local ingredients were high-end including abalones, crabs, and lobsters, etc. If you are a gourmet, you must be excited. The portion tends to be big. Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach. After dinner, some sushi rolls, oranges, and boiled eggs for a night snack were served in our room. Then you can choose either Western or Japanese cuisine for breakfast. All meals are served in a private room. *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare it if you request it on that day. Then, as far as I know, there is no restaurant around here. You may want to book a room including meals.

My impressions
The staff tends to be not so sophisticated, but friendly. Overall, the hardware would be almost perfect, but the software wouldn’t be the same class. This is Mie prefecture. I guess it’s OK. At last, don’t forget to check the weather forecast before booking a room. That’s important. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space. Welcome to the online home of the Zen Center of Denver! We are a Buddhist sangha (community) offering authentic Zen practice and training since our founding in 1974. Along with daily zazen (seated meditation), the ZCD offers a full range of opportunities for Zen training, including dokusan (private instruction with a teacher), samu (work practice), zazenkai (all-day sittings), and sesshin (week-long retreats).
Due to the pandemic, we are currently closed to the public for all in-person activities, and are conducting our practice sessions via Zoom. Please see our calendar for exact dates and times; you will need to have Zoom installed and updated to join. Click on the relevant link below or in the calendar event description to join the meeting at the scheduled time. Your microphone will be automatically muted when you enter the meeting; please keep it muted until it is time to speak, then unmute yourself only when you are speaking.
Teishoku Meaning
Newcomers should please note as well that we do not offer beginning instruction during our regular sittings, and zazen is practiced in silence; so you may wish to first try a Wednesday beginners’ night by way of getting situated with the practice.
